We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
As we continue our development and growth as a University, we are pleased to invite applications for a Procurement and Insurance Assistant to join our ambitious and supportive Finance team.
Joining a team responsible for overseeing over £20m of expenditure each year, the Procurement and Insurance Assistant will help ensure the University achieves value for money across all its purchasing. You will be involved in designing and supporting tender and quotation exercises, regular analysis of expenditure and responding to staff and supplier queries and the maintenance of the University’s contract register.
Excellent customer service skills are essential given the interactions across the Finance team, University and beyond and the need to explain policies and regulations in understandable ways. The Procurement and Insurance Assistant will spend part of their time on insurance related administration, including supporting the Finance Manger - Operations and Control with the annual renewal process and responding to routine queries and requests from staff.
This is a role that would suit someone either with experience of purchasing or procurement who is looking to take the next step in their career in a highly supportive environment or an individual with some finance or other relevant administrative experience with an interest in this area. Whatever the candidate’s background, we will offer relevant training and the opportunity to consider formal CIPS qualifications via an apprenticeship route.
Whilst this is a 1 FTE role, applications from candidates available on a part-time basis, will also be considered.
Informal Enquiries: Dawn Davidson, Procurement Officer (dawn.davidson@cumbria.ac.uk) or Ben Clark, Head of Financial Performance and Planning (ben.clark@cumbria.ac.uk)
We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.
