The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) was established in 2014 to stimulate growth of the Industrial Biotechnology (IB) sector in Scotland by leveraging the knowledge and expertise in Scottish Universities and Further Education Colleges. IBioIC has become a European centre of excellence, connecting global industry with outstanding academic expertise to bring new IB processes and products to the international market.
Hosted by the University of Strathclyde, IBioIC is a key driver of Scotland’s National Plan for Industrial Biotechnology (NPIB) with ambitious goals to support a cluster of 220 companies, 4,000 jobs and £1.2bn in associated turnover by 2025. IBioIC has been pivotal in delivering growth, building a dynamic critical mass of connections and knowledge, to facilitate collaborations between the business community and Universities and Colleges, supporting skills and talent development, technical innovation in companies, scale-up support, and entrepreneurship training.
The successful candidate will be qualified to bachelor’s degree level or higher in a relevant science or engineering subject and will have significant relevant experience within a Technology Transfer, Business Development or Commercialisation function within academia or industry. They will be part of a small, supportive and energetic team but work independently to build effective strategic partnerships between business with a portfolio of Scottish Universities and Colleges, delivering impactful collaborations, supporting new funding opportunities and provide specialist support for our partners.
The post will report to Dr Liz Fletcher, Director of Operations, IBioIC.
