London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Study Skills Tutor (Specific Learning Differences), within our Student Services Department.

As a University, we are committed to enhancing the experience of our students, enabling their success, and providing the highest possible levels of support. We are seeking to appoint an experienced and qualified study skills tutor to support and work with our neurodiverse students.

You will work with students that have undertaken a screening for a neurodiversity that require further study skills strategies and methods to harness and build on their strengths, improve their ability to plan the assignments, use strategies and technology to improve their written communication and compete their assignments on time.

This will be a combination of group/team study skills workshops throughout the week as well as one to one support as required for further individualised support. Primarily your role will be to support students not eligible for DSA funded support as well as offer bridging support for students in urgent need as they wait for funding to come through.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Substantial experience of providing one to one Study Skills tuition and group/team workshops for neurodiverse learners in a tertiary education setting and a passion to build on student’s strengths in order for them to progress on their chosen programme.
  • Experienced in interpreting screening results, diagnostic assessments and a working knowledge of specialised assistive technology and software such as mind mapping and text to speech software.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a member of a relevant professional body such as PATOSS, ADSHE or the Dyslexia Guild. You will also possess a minimum Level 5 Teaching students with SpLD certificate.
  • You will be a team player and work closely with the Disability & Dyslexia team in meeting the demand of new referrals of students that require specialist support as well as providing specialist advice and guidance to help develop our service in this area.
