The role
Our research group is interested in the mechanism which underlie rapid-acting antidepressants. We have recently been awarded a collaborative grant with COMPASS Pathways to study the psychopharmacology of psychedelics. There are two roles available, 1 x 1 year and 1 x fixed term until 31/02/2025 to provide technical support for studies involving the management of laboratory rodents involved in behavioural studies. You will join a team of PDRAs, technicians and PhD students working on related projects with the overarching aim to identify new treatments for depression.
What will you be doing?
The posts require applicants with a passion for animal welfare and excellent animal handling skills. It will involve training and testing animals in behavioural tasks and a basic analysis of the data using customised templates. You will require a Home Office personal license and will include administering drugs to the animals. You will also provide support for the other members of the research team and will include some weekend and out of hours working.

You are an experienced animal technician with expertise in working with laboratory rodents. You must have excellent animal handling skills and be motivated to learn about behavioural methods. Also, a willingness to learn new techniques and motivation to be part of a research team are essential.
