University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager, MBA/DBA Programme in Nottingham University Business School China. 

About NUBS China 

NUBS China is a young business school with a strong international and research orientation. We are part of the EQUIS and AACSB-accredited Nottingham University Business School. Campuses in the UK, Malaysia, and here in Ningbo, China, work closely together and offer the University of Nottingham degrees. 

NUBS China currently has over 3,621 Chinese and international students with around 894 enrolled in postgraduate programmes including PhD programme. We have a diverse international faculty of 111, based in Ningbo China, coming from 18 countries and regions. English is the medium of instruction of all our programmes. We have strengthened our focus on high impact research, customised executive education and high-quality teaching and are expanding our academic staff accordingly. We have a vibrant research community emphasising research excellence. NUBS China is an international academic gateway for research on business, finance and economics in China and a centre of expertise on Chinese firms going global. 

Your Responsibility 

Your key responsibilities include: 

1. Strategic planning and programme development

  • Work closely with the DBA and MBA Programme Directors to lead and facilitate the strategic planning process for the programmes, setting clear goals and objectives in alignment with UNNC's mission and market demands.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify the programmes' trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning.
  • Collaborate with academic and industry stakeholders to create visions for the programmes that meet educational and professional standards.
  • Work with faculty and the programme directors to oversee curriculum development. Work with the accreditation bodies to ensure the curriculum meets and exceeds accreditation standards.
  • Work closely with the Programme Directors to develop the strategic plan for recruiting and selecting the teaching faculties, e.g., top-tier faculty with a mix of academic and professional expertise. Maintain and build the connection with the faculty team to create continuous improvement opportunities for the faculty team to ensure high-quality teaching and research with the programme and leverage the resources to ensure the programme's success.
  • Prepare and manage the programme resources, including a budget, facilitates, spaces, etc., to ensure the effectiveness of the resource allocation to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Work closely with the Programme Directors, Faculty, UNNC, and external stakeholders to plan for the programmes’ future growth.2.Programme marketing, promotion, and stakeholder engagement
  • Work closely with the Programme Directors and the University Marcom team to develop and implement a strategic marketing plan for the MBA/DBA programmes and conduct market research to understand target participants, competitive landscape, and programme positioning.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including brochures, web content, advertisements, and social media campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the University admissions and Marcom team to develop strategies that drive applications and enrollments.
  • Organize recruitment events, track the marketing campaign's effectiveness, and adjust strategies when necessary.
  • Work closely with the University's relevant departments, e.g., Career, BDO, admissions, and academics, to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate partners, industry leaders, alumni, and academic influencers.
  • Develop partnership and sponsorship opportunities that support programme goals and provide value to the stakeholders.
  • Manage the DBA/MBA alumni relations and development. Create content that showcases alumni success stories and the impact of the MBA/DBA programmes on their careers, and work closely with the university career offices to maintain the alumni data.
  • Plan and execute high-profile DBA/MBA programme events, including conferences, seminars, and networking receptions.
  • Work in partnership with the UNUK DBA/MBA teams to guarantee that the programmes are in harmony with the organisation's overarching mission.

2. Programme operations and delivering  

  • Collaborate intimately with faculty members to manage the execution of the DBA and MBA programmes, guaranteeing that courses are delivered effectively and aligned with the established curriculum structure.
  • Communicate with various university departments, such as IT, facilities, and the BDO office, to secure the essential infrastructure for successful course delivery.
  • Promptly and efficiently resolve any challenges arising in programme delivery, developing solutions as necessary. Continuously enhance operational procedures and establish standard operating practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies to foster a vibrant and inclusive learning environment for MBA and DBA students.
  • Organize orientation sessions, workshops, and events that facilitate student integration into the programme and build a strong sense of community.
  • Provide guidance and support to students on academic matters, including course selection, academic progress, and research projects.
  • Establish channels for regular communication with students to gather feedback on courses and overall programme experience.
  • Collaborate with University Career to provide students with professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate for student needs and interests, working closely with faculty and administration to address student concerns or challenges.
  • Monitor student progress and retention rates, identify at-risk students, and implement intervention strategies as needed.

3. Continuous Improvement and Programme Enhancement

  • Establish a comprehensive feedback system that actively solicits and collects ongoing insights from current students, alumni, and employers to guide programme enhancements and modifications.
  • Proactively analyze feedback data, academic performance, and market trends to pinpoint areas of opportunity and propose actionable recommendations for programme refinement and development.
  • Commit to advancing professional skills and knowledge by engaging in hands-on work experiences that directly enrich the programme's quality and relevance.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and innovation within the programme by encouraging and implementing best practices in business education and staying abreast of industry changes.
  • Coordinate with academic and administrative teams to integrate the latest business theories and real-world applications into the curriculum, ensuring the programme remains at the forefront of business education.
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methodologies and course delivery mechanisms, adjusting as needed to enhance student learning outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with faculty to support their professional growth, thereby directly improving the caliber of instruction and mentorship available to students within the DBA and MBA programmes.

4. Alumni Relations, Community Building, and others

  • Build and maintain a robust alumni network that not only opens doors to professional opportunities for current students but also encourages ongoing learning and engagement with the university for graduates.
  • Initiate and oversee programmes that facilitate meaningful connections between alumni and students, such as mentorship schemes, networking events, and guest speaker series, enriching the educational experience and career prospects.
  • Implement strategies that ensure alumni remain connected to the university, such as regular communications, updates on university developments, and invitations to special events, reinforcing their role as valued academic community members.
  • Collaborate with the alumni office to develop targeted outreach initiatives that celebrate alumni achievements and encourage their active participation in the life of the university.
  • Work to ensure alumni contributions are recognized and valued, leveraging their expertise and experiences to enhance the curriculum, provide real-world insights, and contribute to strategic programme developments.
  • Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise, and awareness;
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.

About You 

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field is required.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with faculty, students, alumni, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using educational technology platforms for programme delivery and evaluation.
  • Training or experience in diversity and inclusion initiatives, with the ability to promote and integrate these values within the programme.
  • Initiative, resourcefulness, problem-solving skills.
  • 5 years of significant hands-on experience in similar or related roles.
  • Significant experience in academic programme management, particularly in the context of MBA or DBA programmes.
  • Familiarity with the current landscape of business education and the specific needs of graduate students in these fields.
  • Experience in building alumni relations and managing stakeholder engagement, with a track record of fostering professional networks.
  • A background in marketing and promoting academic programmes, understanding student recruitment strategies and market trends.
  • An understanding of the key working relationships required with staff at all levels across the Department/School/Faculty/University.
  • Awareness of the current and future activities of the University/Department to use for planning purposes and systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment surrounding higher education and programme accreditation.
  • Compliance with any regional or national educational standards and requirements for postgraduate business programmes.
  • Awareness of data protection laws and ethical guidelines for student privacy and information security.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks toward deadlines accurately.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.

This is a permanent post that you will be offered a fixed term contract initially of 3 years with a probation of 6 months with University of Nottingham Ningbo China with effect from May 2025 or as soon as thereafter.
