Job Summary - The Department of Geography, at Streatham Campus, has a new opportunity for a graduate to join their Professional Services team. You will support the Head of Department and two Senior Academics. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the vibrant community of the Department of Geography, developing executive tract assistant experience, learning about the university’s systems, policies, and processes and applying them to support the work of Senior Academic staff and the Department. The role will include coordinating communications and underpinning administrative tasks for Geography including diary management, making travel arrangements, supporting special projects and organising events. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme and offers full-time hours (36.5 hours per week) and a 12-month contract, extendable to a maximum of 23 months. About You – You should be a graduate who has experience of effective use of social media, event organisation and of communication with a wide range of audiences, and be confident using Office 365. You should be interested in geography, environmental science, and issues around climate change, be highly organised, as the ability to keep on track with a wide range of activities is essential, and have the ability to plan and prioritise own work, particularly when there are competing deadlines. You should be able to work effectively under pressure and multi-task without compromising attention to detail, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully in a small team. You should be creative, have innovative in approaching problem solving, have a can-do attitude, and good IT skills and be able to learn new systems quickly. You should be able to work autonomously, without constant direct supervision but also able to recognise when to ask for guidance, and have a commitment to equal opportunities.
