Do you have a nuance for neurodiversity and teaching? Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to teach on its short courses in 2025/6.
The School of Psychological Sciences is looking to recruit a part time Associate Lecturer to work on its short courses, and Postgraduate Certificate in Neurodiversity Coaching modules, namely:
As Associate Lecturer, you will confirm the teaching content with the programme/module director, lead on distinct sessions for in person delivery, and support/supervisor group work, input into online preparation and follow up sessions. You will also assist in marking students’ self-reflective work and bring experience to enable robust and fair assessment. You'll also bring a strong commitment to evidence-based practice.
To succeed as Associate Lecturer, you'll be an experienced coach and facilitator with a track record in the neurodiversity field with appropriate qualifications, ideally as a Chartered Psychologist. You should also be able to evidence training/professional development in neurodiversity coaching.
You will bring a commitment to making a difference to inclusive delivery in a university with a mission for widening participation. You'll have experience of typical topics in neurodiversity coaching, as well as training in how to scaffold approaches such as transactional analysis, clean language, feedforward and supporting self-regulation. Your commitment to ethical practice is strong, and you'll have experience of being supervised and, ideally, offering supervision/mentoring to others.

Salary:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
