About the Role
The Health and Safety Directorate provides Queen Mary University of London with competent health & safety and fire safety advice, training, and support.
The Fire Safety Manager position will work across all our campuses and will be a professionally qualified role within the Health & Safety team, working to support the development of service delivery and compliance with current and future fire safety legislation, professional standards, and best practice.
The main function of the role will be to manage the fire safety team and drive compliance with fire safety across all university activities at a strategic level.
About You
The postholder will need to be in possession of a minimum Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety (or equivalent standard), and proven experience of carrying out and reviewing complex fire risk assessments in organisations similar in size/complexity to Queen Mary, University of London.
They will also require knowledge and an understanding of building guides (ABD) and British Standards pertaining to fire safety (BS 9999 / BS 9991), including relevant up-to date fire safety legislation. (For further requirements of the postholder, please see the Job Description).
About the Department
The Health & Safety Directorate provides a comprehensive advisory health, safety and fire safety service to all Queen Mary University of London staff and students. The Fire Safety Manager supports the HSD Team in achieving this objective.
The directorate has 14 staff and is part of the Office of the Principal, which is a central Professional Services department. This post heads up the fire safety section of the directorate and reports directly to the Health & Safety Director.
