Full time: 35 hours per week

UWS have an exciting opportunity to join our People and Wellbeing team as a HR Adviser. Working closely with the HR Business Partners, the postholder will provide a pro-active and effective HR service for all university colleagues.

As an ambassador for the department, you will contribute to building the departments reputation, actively raising its profile through positive impact on the business by building strong, collaborative internal and external relationships. This will include liaising regularly with union representatives to support UWS employees and aid change management.

Within this busy role, the successful candidate will be involved in dealing with HR operational queries from managers and employees, providing information, sign posting and advising on process and procedure. As well as this the HR Adviser will provide advice on employee relation matters such as disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management. Providing training and coaching to management on these matters and analysing the data to identify any trends.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • HND or equivalent experience
  • Experience of providing operational HR advice, referring to relevant policies and procedures.
  • A strong understanding of employment law and experience of dealing with complex cases.
  • The ability to effectively manage long-term and short-term absence, liaising closely with Occupational Health.
  • Proficient in coaching and training managers on disciplinary, grievance and performance issues.
  • A working knowledge of processing and administration of core HR information using HR information systems.
  • A proactive and organised in approach in managing workload
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
