Do you have an interest in student welfare and supporting students in difficult circumstances?
We are seeking to appoint a Welfare Support Officer to join our Student Welfare Team at the University of Reading. The Student Welfare Team are responsible for providing advice, guidance, support and signposting for students who are experiencing a level of personal difficulties outside study that may have a significant impact on their studies if not supported.
As appropriate the Welfare Support Officer will work directly with students to limit the impact a problem could have on a student’s studies, undertaking individual case work, group work and supporting the teams duty and drop-in system and the Universities’ Report and Support system to provide appropriate support, advice and guidance.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an important and highly valued service, enhancing the support for University of Reading students at what can be a challenging but very important time in their lives.
The team work closely with Academic tutors, Support Centre Staff as well as a range of other professionals across the University to ensure all presenting support needs for students are joined up and well-co-ordinated to try and mitigate any impacts on their studies and experience of university life.
You will need experience of providing welfare support to young people aged 16 plus in an educational or other context and you will be motivated by wanting to help others to help themselves. You will be a self-motivated, organised individual who understands the need for collaboration and working within professional boundaries.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
