Are you ready to make a significant impact on the IT infrastructure at one of the UK's leading educational institutions? We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer – End User Systems to join our team at Birkbeck, University of London.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Information Services Team and provide third-line technical infrastructure services across a range of internal and cloud-based systems and services at the University. With a salary of £43,636 to £49,683 per year, this is a full-time, permanent post with flexible working offered.

As Infrastructure Engineer, you will join the technical infrastructure team, undertaking a mixture of projects, proactive and reactive support, and systems management activities covering: directory services, security, compute, storage, backup, desktop, SaaS, Cloud and application systems.

This is a hands-on role with the emphasis on managing systems and services (both on premise and in the cloud) that are focussed on end user systems.

To succeed as Infrastructure Engineer, you will bring your knowledge and experience of a combination of desktop systems, Defender, InTune and Entra-ID, application packaging/management, Windows/Linux server management, DNS/DHCP, NAS/SAN storage and cloud backup.

One of your key strengths is your ability to focus on the root of a problem and come up with innovative solutions.

In addition, a key element of the role is to share your knowledge with the wider team (including first- and second-line services) as well as the ability to deliver concise, high-quality documentation.

Salary and benefits:
£43,636 rising to £49,683 per year, Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:
