Are you a hands-on technology and data specialist ready to make a difference in cutting-edge medical research?

The Medical Sciences Division IT Services at the University of Oxford is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Bioresource Technical Lead to support the digital backbone of our biomedical research and biobank operations.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to technical expert for platforms like OpenSpecimen (LIMS), REDCap (data capture), and iPassport (quality management)—configuring, integrating, and supporting these systems so they run smoothly, securely, and compliantly. You’ll work closely with researchers, lab teams, and IT colleagues to ensure data is accurate, platforms are resilient, and services are audit-ready.

This is a rare opportunity to apply your technical skills in a real-world setting where research excellence meets tight governance. You’ll be instrumental in supporting studies and operations regulated by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), contributing to Oxford’s world-leading research into human health and disease.

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid experience supporting systems such as LIMS, EDC, or QMS in a research or clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of system configuration, automation, and data integration (APIs, scripting, etc.)
  • Knowledge of compliance and data governance in regulated research environments
  • A problem-solver who communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical users
  • Bonus points if you’ve worked with OpenSpecimen, REDCap, or iPassport, or if you have scripting skills (e.g., SQL or Python)

This is a technical, hands-on role, reporting to the Bioresource IT Service Manager, and you’ll be part of a vibrant team of IT professionals supporting a wide range of research activities across multiple departments.

This post is available full time on a permanent basis. Flexible working available with a minimum of 3 days per week on site.

Why join us?

You’ll be working at the intersection of IT, research, and compliance—helping world-class scientists do their best work while ensuring it’s done securely and ethically. We offer a collaborative environment, opportunities for growth, and the satisfaction of knowing your work underpins some of the most important medical research in the world.

Application Process

Applications should be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement/covering letter explaining how you meet the job requirements with details of two referees as part of your online application. You are not required to provide training or qualification certificates.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 22 July 2025.

Interviews are expected to take place on 12 August 2025.
