This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working in a dynamic environment and a multi-disciplinary team comprising UK and international partners. This is a new role to provide financial and administrative support to the University of Essex Research team of the Gendered violence & poor mental health among migrants in precarious situations (GEMMS) Global Health Research Group and the wider team of the Centre for Global Health & Intersectional Equity.
Role will support PI (Professor Anuj Kapilashrami) and Senior Research and Project Manager (Milena Simic).
The role is essential for the smooth running of GEMMS, so we are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, who takes initiative and enjoys managing and organising a diverse workload.
While primarily the post will support the day-to-day running of the UK GEMMS team, the successful candidate will also be part of the international GEMMS team including partners based in Cambodia, India, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Nepal. The role is suitable for someone who enjoys budgeting, tracking invoices, managing payments and travel logistics alongside arranging meetings, keeping minutes, and general administrative support to a busy team.
Duties of the Role
The postholder will support with the work of the GEMMS Global Research Group through providing administrative support to the University of Essex team and financial reporting support all GEMMS partners. They will oversee invoicing, payments purchasing, monitoring budgets, and supporting the delivery of quarterly financial statements to the funder.
You will provide general administrative support to the team, especially in coordinating and managing meetings, events and other activities. They will support management with the coordination and minute taking for regular team meetings.
This is a fixed term full-time post with the GEMMS global research group for 36 hours per week (1.0 FTE).
Qualifications and Skills Required
The successful applicant will have a good standard of education including 5 GCSEs (grades A-C) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics. A degree (or equivalent level qualification or experience) and a relevant administrative (or equivalent) qualification is also desirable.
Additionally, you will have experience of working in an office environment, supporting with time dependent programmes or activities to meet targets and deadlines and have first class time management and organisational skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
A flexible approach to work to assist as and when required (e.g. to cover sickness absence) is welcome.
