THE ROLE
The post is primarily concerned with the planning, development and safe delivery of technical workshops within the field of Set Design & Production (Theatre, TV, Film & Events). The post holder will be required to demonstrate a range of equipment and materials within this field, which are delivered across the portfolio of programmes including the award titles of Set Design & Production, Acting and the MA Portfolio. The post holder would supervise students in workshops and productions to provide knowledge and assistance as necessary.
In addition to this the role of a Technical Demonstrator is to oversee and maintain the equipment and to monitor, maintain and provide stock control to the theatres, rehearsal spaces and workshops. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to ensure appropriate support is provided to students at all levels. The post holder will set up equipment and maintain the theatre/rehearsal spaces and workshops in a clean, tidy, safe and secure manner. They would be expected to demonstrate across the range of equipment and software within the portfolio of courses offered by the Institute as required. The successful candidate would possess a broad understanding and experience of production, workshop and technical practices. The post holder would need to demonstrable an ability and willingness to contribute to the growing opportunities for interdisciplinary practice across the Institute. The post holder will support the Academic Director for Design and Performing Industries and others in arranging Institute events and exhibitions both on and off-campus.
Also, the post holder would be expected to engage in research and training activities associated with their practice, or other related activities in order to maintain the currency of the students learning experience. The post holder must have a professional attitude, with a high degree of enthusiasm and a willingness to deliver student centered learning provision.
The primary location of this post will be Carmarthen.
