Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an IT & AV Support Specialist to join the Information Services team providing a high-quality, responsive support service to all University staff and students.  

Our IT support specialists at Birkbeck deliver front-line support for the deployment, maintenance and use of all computers and classroom-based equipment at the University. The team provides a high-quality, customer-focused service for all the students, academic and teaching staff in the Faculties, and professional services staff throughout the year. 

As IT & AV Support Specialist, you must have a strong self-motivated approach, with the ability to work at pace, and the competence to deliver a first-time fix for our Birkbeck University users. The role is offered at £34,827 rising to £38,981 per year, full-time, 35 hours per week, on a rota system Monday to Friday at 8-4pm or 1-9pm, and at other times or on weekends with notice. 

To succeed in this role, you should have significant previous experience of providing second-line support and working with specialist technical teams to provide solutions to our users, who are from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and work in highly demanding environments.

Birkbeck will provide support and training on our IT systems, and development for you to build on and update your skills. However, a solid and demonstrable understanding of MS Windows and Networking (gained in a corporate environment) is essential.

The support of audio-visual equipment in a classroom environment and experience of working in higher education would also be an advantage.

Salary and benefits:
£34,827 rising to £38,981 per year. Grade 5 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
