LSE Consulting belongs to the commercial arm of the London School of Economics and Political Science. LSE Consulting, which sits under the Research and Innovation Division of LSE, provides exceptional support to consulting project activity and ensures the quality of competitive proposals against project specifications, working closely with academics, departments, and research centres across the School.
The Development Manager plays a central role in generating new business opportunities and contracts for LSE Consulting. The role combines entrepreneurial business development with strong academic engagement, ensuring that new opportunities are identified, shaped, and converted into funded projects. You will work closely with LSE academics, Departments, and Centres, as well as external clients and partners, to expand the School’s consulting portfolio.
The post-holder will contribute to bid preparation, proposal design, and research and market analysis on opportunities to scale consulting services. The role requires a proactive, innovative approach, balancing business creation with support for high-quality bids, and ensuring academics are well-positioned to engage in consultancy opportunities.
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in business development, ideally within a consulting or research environment, and be confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to contribute to proposal writing and project coordination.
