The University of Cambridge and Department of Haematology invite applications for the position of Haematology Professorship in Lymphoma Biology (Honorary Consultant).

The Department of Haematology is part of the School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge and currently has 17 independent research groups and over 80 postdoctoral researchers. Our groups have made significant contributions to the study of haematology, authoring approximately 100 publications per year, many of these in high-impact journals, and producing discoveries particularly in the areas of malignant haematopoiesis, leukaemia and lymphoma, normal haematopoiesis and transfusion medicine, structural biology and genomics.

The work of the Department is closely linked to the scientists throughout the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the UK and international community as well as Addenbrooke's Hospital, a major University Teaching Hospital with over 1,000 beds and a comprehensive range of regional services for the whole of the East of England. The Departments main base is within the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC) but also occupies space in Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, (CIMR), the NHS Blood and Transplant Blood Centre and the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As a Professor in the Department, the post holder will play a key role in devising and delivering an ambitious research strategy to complement the Department's existing world class research, teaching and clinical service. The successful candidate will engage with key stakeholders within the University and NHS to develop innovative research and uphold our commitment to educational excellence, financial responsibility and impact within the NHS. As Professor of Haematology the chosen individual will contribute to excellence in research that encompasses international leadership specifically in the area of malignant lymphoma and its biology, diagnosis and treatment. The postholder will also have 2 PAs of clinical commitment, will contribute to clinical teaching within the department/faculty and must have GMC eligibility to practice in the UK.

Candidates will possess proven academic leadership and management experience and be able to demonstrate strategic vision, particularly in the area of malignant lymphoma. The successful candidate will have a significant track record of internationally recognised research in the field of malignant lymphoma, including publications in high quality journals, a successful track record of developing and securing external research funding, supervision of post-doctoral researchers and of PhD students to completion. The appointee will also have the ability to manage and develop effective working relationships with research staff and display a strong commitment to fostering an ambitious, inclusive and kind research environment.

This is an integrated appointment between the University & the relevant NHS Trust/ Body ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Clinical Contract by the NHS Trust.
