University of Cambridge - Academic Division

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £33,951 to £39,906
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 6th October 2025
Closes: 2nd November 2025
Job Ref: AK47519

Applications are invited for the role of School Research Grant Administrator within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

This is a new post primarily dedicated to supporting research grant administration and research related objectives in the Bennett School of Public Policy, whilst also supporting other institutions across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences as part of a wider, flexible team.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a newly established Department which is set to become a world renowned leader in policy research and education. The BSPP has ambitious growth plans including launching a new M.Phil in Digital Policy alongside an expanded M.Phil in Public Policy, and the development of a new PhD programme. It is led by its inaugural Director Professor Michael Kenny and Professor Diane Coyle, the Bennett Professor of Public Policy.

Line managing one School Research Grant Assistant within the team, the School Research Grant Administrator will:

  • Provide financial and administrative support and guidance across the full grants lifecycle to academic, research and administrative staff, to enable effective and efficient grant management.
  • Create and circulate accessible information about grant opportunities; work with relevant staff to support the development of grant applications and to manage grants post award, maximising income and mitigating risk, using University systems such as Worktribe, CHRIS and CUFS.
  • Be an excellent communicator with the confidence to relate to a wide range of people and to be an effective team player with a flexible approach.
  • Possess high level organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to take initiative and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.
  • Provide advice and collaboratively support training and networking opportunities for other SRGAs within the School.

The successful applicant will join a team of experienced research grant personnel, working collaboratively across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

This is an exciting opportunity for both new and existing first line managers; although experience in a research and first line management role is advantageous, applications from individuals with transferable skills are welcome, since full training in research grant systems and process will be provided, where required.

This is a full-time role, based at the Bennett School of Public Policy, the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences School Office at 17 Mill Lane, with the opportunity to work remotely. Hours and working pattern can be discussed at interview.

Closing date for Applications is Sunday, 2nd November 2025. Interviews for the role are currently intended to take place on Wednesday 19th November 2025.
