We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to join our team as part-time visitor experience assistants at the Pitt Rivers Museum.
About the role
The Pitt Rivers Museum showcases over 500,000 objects of anthropology and world archaeology. The Visitor Experience team are at the heart of the museum, sharing its stories and histories to visitors from everywhere.
Welcoming and making everyone feel at home and inspired. We enable the opening and daily operation of the museum through our team, helping to cover each floor of the museum throughout the day so visitors can access, learn and enjoy every object.
Responsibilities include welcoming all visitors, developing a good knowledge of the collections/their stories and importance, working as part of a varied team, providing introductions and welcome to visiting groups, working in the shop, encouraging donations, working with and supporting other teams in the museum, learning to use our database and other systems, promoting the museums trails, activities and events.
This is a permanent, part-time role working 13.5 hours per week. Shifts will take place during museum opening hours, 9:45am -5pm Tuesdays – Sundays, and 11:45am-5pm on Mondays. Primarily weekends, with opportunity for additional shifts, including bank holiday and evening shifts. Please note this role does not offer remote working.
About You
We are looking for people with an avid interest in museums who are passionate about delivering great experiences for everyone. You will work well as part of a team, whilst being friendly, approachable and proactive. Working in a busy visitor-facing environment, you will be a strong communicator who is reliable and punctual. This role includes standing and walking for several hours per day; reasonable adjustments can be made. Full training will be provided, which will include retail.
