Education and Academic Services

This fixed term, 7-month, full-time post is available immediately.  This is a hybrid role working from both the Streatham and St Luke’s sites, as well as some time working from home.

Summary of the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible practitioner to provide information, advice and guidance to students and applicants with a range of disabilities. The postholder will take

a key role in supporting the AccessAbility Advisors and Pathway Lead, in particular advising students on the Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) process as well as general advice on disability services and signposting.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join an innovative service, allowing you to develop your skills and engage in inclusive new projects. We are currently developing and extending our support to prospective and current students who declare a disability. The post holder will need to work as part of a team, whilst also being responsible for their own individual work. There will be a need to work credibly with academic and professional services staff within the University as part of this role.

The AccessAbility Service is part of the wider University's Wellbeing Service provision. Our vision is to offer accessible and flexible support for the whole range of disabilities that may impact student learning; health and wellbeing are crucial ingredients of effective study and play a key role in helping students enjoy a rich and fulfilling student experience.

What we are looking for

You will be a skilled and experienced practitioner who has a thoughtful and adaptable approach to your work, as well as a real interest in managing challenging situations whilst sensitively supporting staff and students.  You will have demonstrable experience of working directly with students with a range of disabilities in a support capacity. You will have good working knowledge of disability support in Higher Education and be committed to the advancement of disability services and widening access to this important student community.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commitment

The University of Exeter is an equal opportunity employer. We are officially recognised as a Disability Confident employer and an Athena Swan accredited institution. Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented in the workforce.
