Senior Quality Officer

British Academy of Jewellery – Academic Registry

Reporting to: Academic Registrar

This role operates on a hybrid working arrangement that will require a minimum of three days per week in one of BAJ’s offices. The role can be based in London, Birmingham or Sheffield.

The need for on-site working may fluctuate in line with business requirements. 

Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that Aa BAJ work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Academic Registry

This role sits in BAJ’s Academic Registry. The Academic Registry is responsible for a wide range of functions, from governance through to quality assurance, student administration, marking and assessment. The Team also includes BAJ’s Admissions function and is responsible for managing processes and compliance for UKVI purposes. Additionally, the team are responsible for processing all results and grades for the students and produce all certificates that are awarded at the graduation ceremony.

About the Role:

You will lead a dynamic, results-driven professional services team, supporting colleagues in achieving quality assurance and regulatory compliance objectives.  

You will work alongside the Academic Registrar and the Vice Principal (Student Experience and Governance) to ensure that BAJ has a robust framework for the management of quality teaching and learning and the maintenance of academic standards across all regulated provision, working with regulators (OfS/OFSTED/DfE), validating partners and awarding bodies.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced professional with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant quality assurance regulatory frameworks and requirements (in either an FE or HE setting), and translating them into practice

Essential requirements:

  • An honours degree
  • Experience of successfully developing, implementing, and managing effective systems, policies, and procedures, planning and outcome monitoring. 
  • Experience of working effectively with colleagues, external agencies, and collaborative partners on all aspects of quality assurance and enhancement
  • Effective people management skills, with an ability to manage a team, build relationships, foster an environment of trust, confidence, and co-operation
