We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering for a Senior Technician to support our Bio-Laboratory Operations. We’re looking for a motivated technician to deliver outstanding technical support to staff, students, and external clients. You’ll be at the heart of our research and teaching, ensuring every project runs smoothly.
Join our team and play a key role in supporting cutting-edge experimental research. You’ll provide expert advice and hands-on guidance across a wide range of technical operations, assisting both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Your responsibilities will include calibrating, operating, and maintaining a variety of general and specialist instruments, as well as delivering training sessions and demonstrations on equipment use and safe laboratory practices. You’ll also ensure that all relevant records and documentation are accurately maintained.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of providing an effective and efficient technical support service in a life sciences laboratory setting and a theoretical and practical understanding of chromatographic techniques (HPLC, mass spectrometry). They will be the holder of a ISTR Biosafety Practitioner Level 1 Qualification and will have a Technical Professional Registration or the willingness to work towards it.
