About us
The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) is part of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. It is a key component in delivering the vision for St Thomas’ MedTech Hub. The Institute is housed in a new building on the St Thomas’ campus, bringing together King’s research excellence with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust’s leading clinical practice and the Medical Device sector’s commercial innovation power and talent, engaging multinationals, SMEs and start-ups simultaneously. Its vision is to accelerate the clinical impact of MedTech innovation by building robust MedTech ventures. It aims to become the hub of all MedTech activity in London and the UK by building a strong ecosystem of all key stakeholders in the industry.
About the role
The Senior Health Technology Analyst leads high-quality evaluations of medical devices, including digital and AI-enabled technologies, to support LIHE’s mission of accelerating safe, effective and responsible MedTech innovation. The role reports to the Head of Clinical Translation and Governance and works within a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in regulatory affairs, clinical trials, quality, and clinical governance, to provide analytical leadership for LIHE’s MedTech programmes, including the MedTech Venture Builder (MVB), King’s MedTech Accelerator (KMA), and MedTech Venture Kickstarter (MVK).
The role combines expertise in health technology assessment (HTA), evidence generation, real-world evaluation, and AI/Software as a Medical Device (AI/SaMD) appraisal. The post holder will work with innovators (from academics to SMEs), clinicians, and NHS partners to assess value propositions, evidence needs, risks, and adoption pathways. They will also support programme design, contribute to thematic areas (digital health, surgery, AIaMD), and help generate insight that strengthens LIHE’s strategic positioning as a national MedTech hub.
This is a senior technical and strategic role requiring autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate analytical findings into strategic recommendations for innovators, LIHE leadership, and external partners.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), fixed term contract until 30/06/2027.
