We are seeking to appoint an experienced HE professional to join our Recruitment and Admissions Department as an Admissions Coordinator. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

Our Admissions Office
We operate a centralised admissions service, responsible for 100,000+ applications to courses across the University each year. Our service consists of 12 equally important sub-teams, with each team working under the direction of an Admissions Officer:

  • Undergraduate Admissions Team
    • 4 x sub-teams
  • Postgraduate-taught Admissions Team
    • 4 x sub-teams
  • Postgraduate Research and Professional Courses Admissions Team
    • 3 x sub-teams
  • Tuition Fee Assessment and Compliance Team

Our teams currently work on a variable-hybrid basis, with a typical requirement to work in the office 2-3 days per week.

The admissions office is an exciting and dynamic team of around 80 colleagues, working with stakeholders across departments to deliver a high-quality service to prospective students.

The role
As an Admissions Coordinator you will be assigned to lead a specific area of admissions activity (admissions sub-team) and will hold responsibility for the successful delivery of that area.

Managing a team of Admissions Assistants, you will oversee the daily assessment and processing of a range of applications, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service for applicants and faculties throughout the application cycle.

You will provide expert advice to both applicants and University staff on admissions protocols, procedures and policies, qualifications (home and international) and take responsibility for making decisions on complex or non-standard applications. You will also act as a key admissions contact for faculty-based academic colleagues.

Our Admissions Coordinators work with a high degree of independence and discretion, demonstrating high levels of initiative and ensure that only the most complex queries are escalated to the Admissions Officer.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  1. Excellent, in-depth understanding of current application processes for undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses and knowledge of current sector-wide issues in HE admissions.
  2. Recent experience of providing admissions support in a UK Higher Education Institution.
  3. A proven ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex issues.
