About the Role
As Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Senior Officer, you will help achieve Queen Mary’s recruitment goals for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Reporting to the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Manager, you will implement strategic activities to inform prospective students about pathways to Queen Mary and support applicant conversion.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering recruitment and outreach programs, such as school and college engagement, campus visits, offer-holder events, and participation in Higher Education Fairs. You will manage projects from inception to completion, collaborate with various teams, engage with academic departments and student ambassadors, and use data to monitor and improve outcomes. Strong judgment, attention to detail, and knowledge of recruitment strategies are essential.
About You
You have significant experience in higher education, particularly in student recruitment or outreach, and are confident managing large-scale projects and engaging with schools or similar partners. You understand the complexities of student recruitment and have a proven ability to design initiatives that engage diverse audiences. Your background may include leading a schools outreach program or managing similar functions, where you developed strategic, evidence-based plans and evaluated their outcomes.
Your skills extend beyond recruitment; you are proficient in data analysis and have used these insights to improve program effectiveness.
About the School
The role is situated within the External Relations Directorate which is responsible for the marketing of the profile of Queen Mary University of London and its educational programmes, and the attraction and recruitment of students from under-represented backgrounds as well as students from the UK, EU and Overseas more generally.
About Queen Mary
At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.
Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
Our reformer heritage informs our conviction that great ideas can and should come from anywhere. It’s an approach that has brought results across the globe, from the communities of east London to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.
Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.
