Main duties and responsibilities
The School of Health. Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sports Therapy and Strength and Conditioning to make a major contribution to the BSc (Hons) degree programme in Sports Therapy. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of teaching, student support and research in the field of sports therapy and strength and conditioning. The postholder will deliver and lead sports therapy and strength and conditioning modules at undergraduate programmes as well as contributing more widely to other programmes and School-wide modules. The post-holder will plan and deliver lectures, practical sessions and seminars embracing innovative teaching methods. The post holder will supervise undergraduate research students, as well as mentoring students on work-based placements.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their career by contributing to the School’s research and commercial/consultancy activities, and to the development and administration of undergraduate and postgraduate courses within their area of expertise.
Skill and experience required
Applications will be welcomed from those with previous academic lecturing experience and a history of sports therapy/strength and conditioning practice. The successful candidate will be expected to module lead and teach undergraduate modules across the sports therapy and strength and conditioning disciplines.
Proficient in English, you will have effective communication skills, with the ability to work to deadlines. Effective pastoral skills are essential, as is the ability to teach online and face to face, for lectures, workshops and practical sessions.
You will bring the ability to work constructively as part of a team, with a flexible approach.
Qualifications required
A degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Therapy or in Strength and Conditioning or related area is essential whilst a postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
