Birkbeck, University of London is seeking a Careers Module Lead to take the leading role in delivering, evaluating, and developing our Micro-Placement Module. This is your opportunity to shape a module that provides students with meaningful academic and workplace experiences, supporting their transition into the graduate labour market.
As the Careers Module Lead, you will take responsibility for the administration and delivery of the Micro-Placement Module, ensuring both students and placement hosts enjoy a seamless experience throughout.
Your role will involve designing and delivering teaching sessions both in-person and online, as well as supporting students during their micro-placement journey, whether in groups or one-to-one. As well as building relationships with a range of stakeholders including academic colleagues, employers, and external partners, you will be key to securing and providing high-quality placement opportunities.
You will also coordinate the marking of assessments, ensuring fairness and consistency, and work closely with the Career Services Manager, Module Convenor, and other colleagues at Birkbeck to enhance the module.
To succeed as Careers Module Lead, you will have proven experience in designing and delivering teaching or training sessions, ideally within a Higher Education, or employability context.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines are also essential.

Salary and benefits
Actual salary £19,490.50 rising to £22,123.50 per annum (pro-rated from £38,981 to £44,247 per year FTE), Grade 6 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
Fixed-term, 17 month contract to July 2027; part-time at 17.5 hours per week with hybrid working.
Team office day is Tuesday which is essential and remaining days can be discussed.
Module delivery takes place on weekdays and some evenings and weekends.
