About the Role
This role provides leadership for undergraduate student engagement within the School, working closely with academic and professional services staff. The postholder will lead the student support and advising team, developing initiatives, support systems and targeted interventions to enhance the student experience.
The role focuses on improving student engagement and participation through effective use and analysis of data to inform decision-making and proactive support. The postholder will work closely with Programme Directors, the Director of Admissions/Student Recruitment, Director of Student Experience/Senior Tutor, the School Education Manager and the School Strategic Manager, and will liaise regularly with academic colleagues across the School.
About You
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant field or have equivalent experience. They will have significant experience working in higher education, particularly within teaching and learning administration, and demonstrate the ability to develop and improve services.
They will be skilled in reviewing and maintaining processes and systems, identifying issues independently and implementing effective solutions. A good understanding of key issues affecting student welfare is essential, alongside proven experience of managing, developing and motivating staff to deliver high-quality support.
About the School
The Queen Mary School of Law is one of five schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and comprises the Department of Law and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). Established in 1965, the Department of Law has a strong reputation for innovative research in law, legal practice and theory. Research strengths include jurisprudence, human rights, state crime, law and globalisation, immigration, criminal justice, labour law, environmental law and climate justice, private law, and law and social theory.
At undergraduate level, the Department delivers high-quality teaching across core legal subjects and a wide range of optional modules. Over 1,100 undergraduate students study on several linked LLB programmes, including Global Law, English and European Law, Law in Practice with a paid internship, and the joint English and French Law programme with Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
