At Kellogg College, our catering provision plays a central role in College life through the delivery of high-quality food. Working across the College kitchen and Hub, the catering team contributes to the daily rhythm of the College, supporting events and hospitality while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety and service.

We are seeking a hands-on and collaborative Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. Working closely with, and supporting, the Executive Head Chef, you will help to oversee the day-to-day operation of the College kitchen, contribute to menu planning and costing, and ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation and compliance with food hygiene and health and safety legislation.

The Role

As a key member of the kitchen team, you will:

  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of allergen requirements and dietary requirements, training staff as required.
  • Manage and monitor food deliveries, checking the temperature and quality of products delivered.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of skill in food preparation and presentation
  • Ensure that food safety and health and safety legislation is complied with
  • Assist in the planning of menues, and contribute effectively towards food cost budgets.

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Excellent culinary skills, with the ability to create menus for both daily catering and special events
  • The knowledge and ability to encourage and develop all team members
  • Experience of producing high quality food in a fine dining environment
  • Experience of managing busy kitchen/s and staff, delivering to multiple demands within deadlines, to a high standard
