About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching Focused) to join the School of Healthcare on a full‑time basis for a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of extension. The role will contribute to research‑inspired education through teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, delivering high‑quality, inclusive teaching that embeds key skills and supports an excellent student experience. You will be involved in curriculum development and renewal, providing timely assessment and feedback, and working closely with students to support their learning, progression and employability.

Alongside teaching, you will contribute to the wider academic life of the School and University through pedagogical or disciplinary scholarship that underpins high‑quality teaching, participation in outreach and public engagement activities, and involvement in School, College and University initiatives. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, represent the University nationally where appropriate, and play an active role in mentoring, leadership and citizenship activities that reflect the University’s strategic themes.

About you

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a degree in Nursing at 2:1 or above, with expertise that complements and enhances the School’s existing strengths. You will have experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supported by evidence of excellent student outcomes, strong feedback and external recognition of your teaching practice. You will demonstrate a clear commitment to the development of learning and teaching, including holding or working towards Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or an equivalent accredited qualification.

You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, support and motivate students, and contribute positively to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
