About the Role
The Department of English, within the School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Lecturer in English (T&S) for one year.
Duties under Teaching and Scholarship
Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. We are looking for someone with expertise in Postcolonial and Global Literature. The role will likely involve contributing to modules such as ESH285 Postcolonial and Global, ESH7070 Afterlives of Empire, ESH6200 Contemporary Arab(ic) Fiction. As such, expertise in contemporary Arabic or Anglophone Arab writing in the contemporary period may be an advantage.
This is a fixed-term role available as a Leverhulme-funded replacement post from 01 September 2026 until 31 August 2027.
About You
You will hold a PhD in English or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential.
