The University of Buckingham is looking for an exceptional Carpenter / Joiner to join our Estates Team and play a vital role in maintaining the safety, quality and functionality of one of the UK's most distinctive university estates.

This is far more than a traditional carpentry role.

You will be at the forefront of our fire safety programme, carrying out the inspection, repair, maintenance and installation of fire doors across a diverse portfolio of academic buildings, student residences, commercial facilities and historic properties. Alongside this specialist work, you will also undertake a varied range of carpentry and joinery projects that directly enhance the student and staff experience.

The Role

Your primary focus will be ensuring the University's fire doors remain safe, compliant and fully operational. You will carry out inspections, adjustments, repairs, upgrades and installations, helping to protect thousands of students, staff and visitors every year.

In addition, you will undertake a wide variety of carpentry and joinery works including:

  • Installation and repair of doors, frames and ironmongery.
  • Building fabric repairs and maintenance.
  • Bespoke joinery and refurbishment works.
  • Repairs to furniture, fixtures and fittings.
  • Planned maintenance projects.
  • Reactive maintenance and fault rectification.
  • Support for capital improvement and refurbishment programmes.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated trades professional who is passionate about delivering quality work.

Be Part of Something Bigger

Every fire door repaired, every compliance issue resolved and every project completed contributes directly to creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors.

If you are a skilled Carpenter or Joiner looking for a role where your expertise is valued, your work is varied and your contribution has a real impact, we would love to hear from you.
