The University is looking for an accomplished administrator to support the University's governance processes. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a range of colleagues across the University, including the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and Senior Officers, and with exposure to key areas of business in a world-leading University.
Based within the Governance and Compliance Division, your role will sit within the governance team and provide high-level support for a portfolio of central University committees.
You will build expertise in your committees' business and serve as an important first point of contact for those committees. You will work closely with the chairs of committees you support, the University Draftsman, to whom you will report, and others in the team to manage committee business, prepare papers (including some drafting work), and brief committees' chairs and other senior colleagues. Your primary committee will be the Finance Committee, which (under Statute A IV 9(a)) advises the Council on the management of the University's assets, including real property, moneys, and securities, investments, reserves, income and expenditure.
The role holder will also be an authoritative source of advice on the University's Statutes and Ordinances and decision-making processes involving the Regent House, the University's legislative and electoral body, to colleagues within the Division and across the University
To thrive in this role, you need to be an excellent oral and written communicator, with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise confidently with staff at all levels and to convey an authoritative view to stakeholders and gain the confidence of others over whom you have no direct responsibility. You will also need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a brief which covers a wide range of activities. You will be educated to at least a first degree level (or equivalent), ideally with experience of either governance or HE administration.
Additional information regarding the role may be found within the further particulars.
Your application should clearly set out how you meet the criteria listed in the person profile (the skills and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted based upon these criteria.
Fixed-term: This post is created to support a temporary increase in work activity until end of February 2028.
Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 19th July 2026.
