The Centre for Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (CHIA) is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individuals to the part-time (60-80% FTE) position of Postgraduate Administrator. The successful candidate will join CHIA's core administrative team, supporting the development and effective delivery of its postgraduate programmes.
The Institute for Technology and Humanity (ITH) serves as the administrative home for CHIA, the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI), and the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER), all of which are based within the School of Arts and Humanities.
The primary focus of this role is to provide comprehensive administrative support for CHIA's educational programmes, which currently include PhD and MPhil courses in Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence. This is a varied and rewarding role with responsibility across the full student lifecycle, from admissions and funding applications through to course delivery, examinations and graduation. The postholder will act as the first point of contact for postgraduate enquiries, working closely with the CHIA Postgraduate Programme Coordinator, course leaders, academic staff and colleagues across the School of Arts and Humanities to ensure the smooth and effective administration of the programmes. The role also includes supporting student events and communications, maintaining course information and records, and contributing to the development of new educational initiatives as CHIA continues to grow.
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive administrator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering a high-quality student experience. The successful candidate will be able to manage a varied workload, work independently while exercising sound judgement, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. They will be confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Teams, and willing to learn new systems and processes as required. Previous administrative experience within a higher education environment, together with knowledge of postgraduate or course administration, is essential. Experience of admissions, student records systems, funding administration, or supporting academic programmes would be advantageous.
The Postgraduate Administrator reports to the Postgraduate Programme Coordinator and works closely with the CHIA education team, including the Director, Assistant Professors, Teaching Associate and Centre Coordinator, as well as colleagues across the wider Institute and School. This is a collaborative and varied position that offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued success and development of CHIA's postgraduate education activities.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
