Salary on appointment will be £38,784 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £47,389 per annum (pro rata). 

The School of Health Sciences is committed to developing new opportunities for midwifery, nursing and allied health professional colleagues to develop their careers within the University sector. 

At an exciting time of growth and development, we are seeking to appoint to two fixed term Lecturer in Midwifery posts. 

Both posts will provide a supportive context for development and the opportunity to strengthen experience and knowledge of learning and teaching, innovation and research.

You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and student support within the school’s midwifery programme.  Responsibilities include designing and delivering lectures and seminars, supporting student learning through assessment, practice education visiting, and academic supervision.

You will hold a current NMC registration as a midwife and have a first degree in midwifery (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area, ideally will have experience of undergraduate teaching and student assessment relevant to the subject. You will also have a commitment to academic and professional development.

There are two posts, both available immediately:

  • The first is part-time (0.6 FTE), on a fixed-term basis of 4 years.
  • The second is part-time (0.8 FTE) for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.

These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child and Vulnerable Adult Barred Lists. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or vulnerable adults.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a part-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
