The post holder will therefore need a meticulous approach to work and understand the importance of maintaining quality standards within a highly structured laboratory unit.

To contribute to the development and implementation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Drug Control Centre in order to maintain accreditation to ISO 17025 and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) International Standard for Laboratories.

The Post holder will be a member of the DCCs IT team, providing high quality expertise in IT and data handling implemented through the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) under the direction of the Senior IT officer.  This role is campus-based because of the nature of the data handled, confidentiality and security are paramount for data integrity.

About The Role

The post holder will be knowledgeable and competent in the use of standard software packages (Excel, Access or Power-BI) and be able to integrate and evaluation complex data.

The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of a bespoke IT service across the Drug Control Centre. This involves supporting the Senior IT Officer to ensure the efficient, secure functioning of the test result and other analytical data created through the analysis of biological samples in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code’s International Standard for Laboratories and World Anti-Doping Agency and ISO 17025 accreditations.

Part of the role will be to develop proven LIMS expertise and authoritative knowledge to data processes and procedures with respect to IT Systems.  This will include delivering the individual sample number project under the supervision of the Senior IT officer to ensure the integrity of LIMS throughout the sample journey (booking in, communicating data to analytical instruments, analysts and customers) including reporting, data backup and archiving) .

The post holder will work to maintain full compliance with title 21 of the CFR part 11 (Code of Federal Regulations) that defines the criteria under which electronic records and electronic signatures are considered trustworthy, reliable, and equivalent to paper records.

Under the direction of the Senior IT Officer the post holder will develop knowledge and expert understanding of the use of Power-BI for the dissemination of management information: provide Key Performance Indicator for members of the senior team.

They will support the Senior IT Officer to integrate laboratory processes within the LIMS system towards a paper-less service for anti-doping, clinical and forensics samples. This may include supporting the Senior IT Officer to integrate machine learning initiatives into the DCC to ensure the continuous improvement of the LIMS Systems (e.g., for invoicing and management reports).
