The School of Allied Health Sciences is one of the largest and fastest growing Schools in the Griffith Health Group. It is known for innovation and excellence in health education, research and clinical practice, and has a focus on addressing many of the health challenges facing society today. The School offers academic programs across all levels of Exercise and Sport, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling and Speech Pathology. Staff members actively teach into these disciplines as well as conduct scholarship and research, which is supported by the Menzies Health Institute Queensland. In addition, the School of Allied Health Sciences houses the Allied Health Clinics, which provide dietetics, exercise physiology, physiotherapy and speech pathology clinical services to the public, as well as opportunities for student clinical education.
Occupational Therapy is a new discipline in the School. The first cohort of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy students commenced on the Gold Coast campus in 2014. They are set to graduate late in 2017. Occupational Therapy at Griffith University adopts a contemporary view of the profession and seeks to enable students to become occupation focused, theory driven, evidence based and client centred occupational therapists able to practice in current, emerging and future settings and roles to enhance the health of individuals, communities and populations. In addition to delivering high quality entry-level education, the Occupational Therapy area aims to build a strong research and publication profile, and ongoing partnerships with the local community.
The position will commence with a Teaching and Research profile of which the appointee will be required to undertake teaching and research in their chosen area of expertise, as well as contribute to the School’s teaching and research outcomes including publications and research success, teaching excellence and higher degree research supervision and completions, and engagement activities. Future work allocations will be reviewed and in alignment with the operational and student-centred requirements of the School.
This position will play an active role in the full range of activities of the Discipline of Occupational Therapy, including teaching/learning, research, and service. The position will work as a member of the team to deliver the occupational therapy programs on Nathan and Gold Coast campuses, conduct research, and contribute to the school, university, community, and profession. The Discipline of Occupational Therapy adopts a contemporary occupation-centred approach to occupational therapy, and this is enacted in teaching/learning and research using active and authentic learning experiences
This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at Nathan campus, however the successful applicant may also be required to work on other campuses of the University.
To be successful in this role you will have entry-level qualification in occupational therapy, a PhD in occupational therapy or a relevant area and eligibility for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and demonstrated clinical expertise in an area of occupational therapy. You will also have demonstrated experience in leading curriculum development at a course and program level, and evidence of quality and impact of teaching.
You will also have proven evidence of a strong research track record, including publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals, national research collaborations, and proven success in attracting competitive research funding in an area which will contribute to the research directions of the Discipline and School.
Senior Lecturer (Level C): $113,326 – $130,675 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $132,593 - $152,891 per annum.
