The post holder will provide exceptional project management for the programme grant entitled “PET-CT guided, symptom-based, patient-initiated surveillance versus clinical follow-up in advanced head and neck cancer (PETNECK 2)” to ensure that it is delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the grant application and relevant protocols.

The Programme Manager will be based in the Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education (InHANSE) within the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences. The role will be a key liaison and co-ordination role, and the individual will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The individual will also contribute to the general work of the Institute of Head and Neck Studies and Education (InHANSE). See website at for further information.

Main Duties Include:

  1. Manage the PETNECK 2 programme, including providing significant and high level project management support to the Chief Investigators and the wider research team.
  2. Monitor programme timelines, including key performance indicators and milestones, and ensure they are adhered to. Deliver agreed deliverables against timelines.
  3. Review and audit progress on the programme to improve effectiveness, efficiency and delivery on key milestones.
  4. Report on programme progress, including collation of information and/or preparation of reports (e.g. financial or other regular progress reports) to internal and external stakeholders, and presenting to key stakeholders, as needed.

Brief Person Spec

  • Graduate degree (higher degree preferred)
  • Substantial experience of project management and administration
  • Excellent team working skills with the ability to organise the work of a professional team
  • Must demonstrate a critical and intelligent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
