Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Central Library in the new role of Facilities and Administrative Co-ordinator, working with the Administration and Operations team you will provide high levels of support for library staff and library users.

You will be responsible for a range of activities relating to library facilities and health and safety, supporting the Facilities Manager in the delivery of projects and ensuring library space is fit for purpose.  You will line manage the team of Library Attendants providing some on call support (normally by telephone) at weekends and evenings.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will manage the Library Attendant team and be responsible for resolving issues and queries from library
  • You will work closely with the User Services team, based at the Welcome Desk and Information Hub, to ensure a consistent user service is provided across the teams.
  • You will be responsible for reporting building defects and liaising with the Estates team to ensure defects are resolved
  • You will assist with the response to health and safety risks and incidents and be responsible for checking the Central Library space daily for any potential hazards and defects, reporting them to the Estates team

Essential requirements

  • Previous experience managing or supervising staff
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety procedures and regulations and their importance in the workplace
  • Experience working in an administrative role
  • Good interpersonal skills, being able to interact with a broad range of people
  • Ability to work under own initiative and respond appropriately to situations not previously encountered
  • Excellent team player, flexible and co-operative approach to work
  • Excellent attention to detail, and methodical approach to work
