Union School of Theology is looking to recruit a librarian to oversee and develop our provision of digital and print resources for our growing community, both on campus and across multiple continents. The successful candidate will be a Chartered Librarian (MCLIP or higher), ideally with experience of library management in an FE/HE context. They will be motivated by the growing demand on UST to help raise leaders for the church worldwide.
The key tasks include, but are not limited to, expanding our online learning provision, overseeing our physical library of 33,000+ volumes and digital resources, assisting library users, managing the library collection and budget, cataloguing, administrating the Library Management System (Soutron), and working with colleagues to ensure copyright compliance.
With excellent computer, organisational and personal skills the successful candidate will have the ability to handle a varied workload and deal confidently with all staff, students and volunteers in the school. They will also be expected to undertake their work in such a way as to present the ethos, vision, mission, and values of Union to current and prospective students, local churches, supporters and visitors. They will contribute to the spiritual life of Union School of Theology through regular attendance and participation in times of community worship.
Union School of Theology is an evangelical Christian theological college, and the librarian is required to deal with staff and students on matters of personal belief and Christian theological education as part of the wider pastoral support of students, therefore it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the jobholder be a Christian who holds to our Basis of Faith.
