The Finance Office is looking to recruit a Finance Manager to provide local financial support at a senior level.

You will provide accurate and timely management information to departmental staff and to senior UWSP and University management in order to aid planning, control and decision-making, especially in the deployment of University resources. You will have a recognised accountancy qualification and broad experience within a finance function, including preparation of business plans. Knowledge of commercial property accounting would be useful.

As Finance Manager within UWSP, you will be expected to engage proactively with staff in the department. You will work closely with existing experienced finance staff and will be approachable, enthusiastic and able to explain complex technical matters to non-finance staff.

In terms of specific tasks, you will:

  • Prepare quarterly budget steering reports for UWSP Ltd and its subsidiary and associate companies, and satellite operation at Blythe Valley Innovation Centre including update of quarterly forecasts.
  • Prepare the quarterly budget steering reports and management accounts for the University’s Wellesbourne Campus and the University’s Land and Lease activity including update of quarterly forecasts.
  • Work with the UWSP Property Surveyor and the University’s Estates team to ensure University leases, including Wellesbourne Campus, are processed in accordance with the FP20 process.
  • Ensure the financial information presented is complete and accurate. For example, that invoices are raised in accordance with lease terms.
  • Prepare and disseminate the service charge budgets and accounts for tenanted properties in accordance with Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (RICS) Standards.
  • Oversee audit of year end service charge accounts for UWSP Ltd, its associate companies and Blythe Valley Innovation Centre.
  • Advise on and implement cost control processes for Wellesbourne Campus to minimise budgetary overspends.
  • Offer advice and direction on financial matters to UWSP colleagues, including financial regulations, costing and pricing of projects.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Appropriate deputising for the Head of Finance and Administration as required.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post as and when directed by the Head of Finance and Administration.

The role will report into the Head of Finance and Administration, UWSP. In future, the post may have line management responsibility for UWSP finance staff.

A £5,000 per annum market supplement (pro-rated and non-pensionable) is available for the successful applicant on provision of proof of current membership of an approved accounting body and evidence they hold the appropriate accountancy qualifications.
