Location:                    Bishops Square, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Research Grants Team to provide dedicated pre-award costing support to academic staff across the University. The post holder will be part of the Research Grants Team in the Research Office and will report to the Head of Research Grants.

Main duties & responsibilities

You will support the development of research funding applications, including liaising with funding bodies and collaborative partners, by preparing detailed and accurate costings according to scheme and funder criteria. You will ensure financial issues are resolved prior to submission and keep Finance advised. You will maintain good records and up to date knowledge within this area.

Skills and experience needed

Prior proven administrative experience in a complex and dynamic organisation, and / or experience of working in Higher Education administration would be advantageous.

You must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care and able to communicate in a variety of formats to different audiences. You will have good IT, numeracy and literacy skills and be able to work accurately under pressure. The ability to collect, process and present complex data, maintain attention to detail and work with confidential information is essential for this role. Your application will demonstrate an ability to deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality. You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with A-levels or equivalent, or have proven professional work experience in a relevant area.
