Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

CareersBU is part of the Student Services directorate and provides a wide range of careers and employability support to BU students and graduates. This includes one-to-one appointments, webinars and workshops, an extra-curricular skills programme, careers fairs, online resources and much more. We exist to help our students develop their skills, gain experience, and make informed career decisions.

This new post will lead on engaging students and graduates with the service, through a combination of digital and face-to-face approaches. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver new approaches to student engagement at a time when employability has never been more important.

The role will have a particular focus on increasing engagement with segments of the student population who currently do not use the CareersBU service for a range of reasons – for example a lack of awareness, a feeling of being overwhelmed by career choices, or a lack of ‘social capital’ (the networks of friends and family that often play a significant role in career thinking).

We seek to be a service that proactively reaches out to students; making thinking about your career an accessible and unintimidating thing to do. This role has a vital part to play in this mission.

Applicants should be creative, positive and ambitious; confident engaging with students from all backgrounds, and with experience in creating engaging digital content such as videos, social media and website content.

This position is available on a part-time basis for 22.5 hours per week (0.6081FTE).

For further information about this role please get in contact with Alex Jacobs, Head of Careers & Employability at ajacobs@bournemouth.ac.uk

A detailed job description and person specification are available from our website together with an online application form.  Alternatively, please email the HR Services Team at hrvacancies@bournemouth.ac.uk quoting the appropriate reference (SSS245)

BU values and is committed to an inclusive working environment.  We seek a diverse community through attracting, developing and retaining staff from different backgrounds to contribute to inspirational learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society.  To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.

Closing Date: (Midnight) Thursday 5 January 2023
