About us UCLIC straddles UCL Computer Science and UCL Psychology. The role will be primarily based within the UCL Interaction Centre, however, staff have fruitful interactions with both parent departments regardless of individual affiliation.
About the role We are looking for a talented computer scientist with expertise in chatbots to join our team at the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC)/Computer Science Department, University College London. You will contribute to new exciting multi-disciplinary projects in the area of Textile Circular and Sustainable Economy funded by the UKRI Digital Economy Theme. The role involves the development and innovation of chatbot technology. The researcher will lead on, or take part in the innovation of conversational structure of the chatbot and its implementation. The successful candidate will become part of an internationally renowned and multi-disciplinary team across the UCL Interaction Centre (where you will be based), and UCL Computer Science. The position is full time, starting on 1 March 2023 or soon after, and is for 7 months. The role holder will be able to work in a hybrid manner, but it is expected that they would generally be on site 60% of the time, but there may be times when they need to be on site 80% or more.
About you The successful candidate will have experience in developing chatbots that can interact with their users. S/he should have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and a track record of publication at international leading venues. Experience with computer programming related to chatbot development is essential. Experience with sensing technology such as movement sensors is desirable.
What we offer The position is offered at Grade 7 with a salary range of £38,308 - £41,470 inclusive of London allowance (dependent on experience).
