This is a fixed term, full time appointment for 48 months.

The Ossmy lab at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development, in Birkbeck University of London, is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to play a key role in delivering a Leverhulme-funded research project investigating the effects of multi-modal information on the development of action planning.

This project is an integration of behavioural, neural, and computational approaches to human development. Techniques include computational modelling, virtual reality, optical motion tracking, eye-tracking, and fNIRS-EEG.

In collaboration with Dr Ossmy and additional project staff, you will play a central role in the computational modelling aspect of the project. The position also includes supporting the behavioural/neural data collections and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students who take part.  

Ideally, you will have:

  • Excellent coding skills (preferably Python)
  • In-depth knowledge in developing computational models (experience with simulated robots would be an advantage).
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods for analysing experimental behavioural data
  • Broad experience testing scientific questions with computational tools
  • Some experience running research within a university lab setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication methods
  • Good attention to details.
  • Experience with conducting developmental research and/or experience with the other behavioural/neural techniques (Virtual reality, EEG/fNIRS, eye tracking, motion tracking) would be an advantage.

Remuneration:

Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £40,348 rising to £46,118 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
