We are seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated and organised administrator with excellent interpersonal skills to join the team at the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) to manage the administration and finances of the highly successful industrially-focussed EPSRC funded Sustainable Approaches to Biomedical Science: Responsible and Reproducible Research (SABS R3) Centre for Doctoral Training 4-year PhD programme and to act as Deputy Head of Administration and Finance.
As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the overall administrative and financial management of the SABS R3 Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) and play a vital role in the continued success of this enterprise, working in collaboration with academic and administrative colleagues across the University, UKRI funding bodies and industrial partners. You will focus on developing SABS R3 CDT policy, working closely with the Programme Directors, DTC Director and Head of Administration and Finance on strategy and long-term planning, including the current round of applications for future funding from UKRI and will co-ordinate the provision of training and support for students enrolled on the course.
You will be responsible for the logistical administrative implementation of the programme in line with current regulations and will be the main contact for prospective and on-course student enquiries, both academic and welfare related. You will manage the flow of information and resources between the CDT and the industrial partners, UKRI training providers, suppliers, central administration (particularly Research Services), divisional administration (Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences and Medical Sciences Divisions), academic and industrial supervisors, departments, colleges, students and prospective students.
The programme currently has approx. £9m of active grant funding plus considerable industrial contributions so you will have a strong track record in managing finances, preferably within the HEI sector. You will work closely with the DTC Finance Co-ordinator and MPLS Divisional Finance team to ensure compliance.
In addition to the Programme Manager duties, you will act as Deputy Head of Administration and Finance. This varied and interesting part of the role will include areas of responsibility such as HR, building management, policy development and planning.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for a period of 3 years in the first instance with the possibility of renewal for a further 3 years (funding dependent).
The closing date for this post is 12pm on Wednesday 15th February 2023.
