Currently, we’re looking for a well-organised individual with lots of initiative and the ability to meet deadlines to join our Library, Archives and Learning Services team.

Join us, and you could soon be providing high quality, customer focused library, archives and open access IT support to a diverse learning and research community, both face-to-face and online. As well as ensuring customers have a good understanding of the resources available to them, you’ll be responsible for providing high quality front-line IT support, including advice on printing; supported software; e-submission and the VLE; use of mobile devices; Wi-Fi and internet troubleshooting and Office365.

We’ll also rely on you to answer library service, facilities and resource enquiries face-to-face or through our enquiry management system and refer or escalate to colleagues or external services when required. Contributing to the smooth running of UEL libraries by troubleshooting equipment faults, assisting with library inductions and basic training sessions and generally helping to maintain an appropriate study environment for library users – all are aspects of this interesting and varied role.

Educated to A-level standard or equivalent, familiarity with library management systems, social media and using online tools to discover information is key, as is the ability to use your initiative and judgement to resolve problems, identifying practicable and suitable solutions. You’re supportive and encouraging of others too and have a flexible approach to teamworking. Your excellent communication skills include a flair for adjusting the way you deliver information to meet the needs of the customer. It is also key to be able to tackle difficult enquiries and keep up to date with knowledge, systems and procedures. 

Please note that this role requires a willingness to work evenings and Saturday duties on a rota basis.
