Job description:

The Role

Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit is a thriving registered academic unit, working in collaboration with investigators to design and deliver clinical trials answering important clinical questions, whose findings bring substantial impact to patients and the NHS. We are delighted to share with you an exciting opportunity for a Data Manager within our successful and expanding UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit.

You will work with Chief Investigators, trial teams, database providers and others as appropriate to ensure the smooth running of all data aspects of NCTU Trials. You will be responsible for the design, set-up, programming and management of computerised databases for the capture (including electronic remote data capture and randomisation systems) and the management of data within these, across a portfolio of clinical trials. You will be responsible, with trial managers and trial statisticians, for identifying processes to ensure the highest level of data integrity and will be responsible for ensuring data is suitable for statistical analyses. These systems and data will meet the quality standards expected for reporting to regulatory bodies and in accordance with all applicable legislation and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. You will be proactive in your approach to work.

It is likely that you will be working on a portfolio of between 2 and 3 trials at any one time, though this will vary. The trials will be of varying types of intervention and may be single or multi-centre. Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit is committed to the ongoing training and development of all staff. Opportunities include a range of internal and external courses in clinical trials and information governance, as well as opportunities for development and input through our UKCRC Registration, The Association for Clinical Data Management and Trial Forge. We  currently have approximately 40 active trials and  work with multiple trial sponsors, locally, nationally and internationally and from two main hubs in Newcastle and South Tees. Chief Investigators, Principal Investigators, and Co-Investigators are located throughout and beyond the University. You may be expected to work at both sites depending on the needs of individual trials and NCTU. The role is full time, but we are keen to hear from people who may wish to discuss flexible working arrangements. We operate a blended approach to home and office working in line with University Guidance.

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and motivated, with excellent  communication and interpersonal skills. If this is you, please contact Dr Alaa Abouhajar at alaa.abouhajar@newcastle.ac.uk or Jon Prichard at jonathan.prichard@newcastle.ac.uk.
