Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2025 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the four successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings in 2024.
An opportunity to join the RCM Library team in the role of Assistant Librarian has arisen. The RCM Library is one of the world’s great music libraries and holds extensive collections of sheet music, books, recorded music and electronic resources appropriate for the needs of students, staff and researchers. The library also holds internationally renowned collections of early printed music, manuscripts, archives and programme ephemera. Primarily a resource for members of the RCM, the Library is also open to the public for reference.
The successful candidate will join the library team to support members of the RCM with their studies and work. They will also be responsible for our e-resources, journals and sections of both the lending and special collections. They will be able to catalogue all types of library material within these sections. The postholder will also be expected to promote the service and collections both within and outside the RCM.
