This is a newly-created position. We are looking for someone to drive and support the development of and commitment to social justice work, both in-venue, and by extending our reach and impact beyond the walls of the museum.
You will play a key role in helping us to understand and meet local needs, and work with other related organisations and individuals who are making a difference on the issues that are most important to our local communities. You will work closely with artists, activists, community organisations, researchers, and museum professionals to lead, co-create, attract funding for and deliver priority programmes, resources, events and activities. Working alongside key colleagues, such as our Environmental Action Manager, Curator of Indigenous Perspectives, Social Justice Group and Social Responsibility team you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the museum’s work to shape and embed social justice methodologies and practices.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
